How it works

Built by the community, for the community

My Valley Connection runs on the trust and goodwill of local volunteers. Here's how a listing goes from idea to directory.

1
Anyone can submit
Residents fill out a simple form to add a business, resource, or upcoming event. No account required.
2
Volunteers review
Trusted local moderators check each submission for accuracy before it goes live — keeping the directory clean and reliable.
3
It goes live instantly
Approved entries appear in the directory and event calendar right away, visible to every user in real time.
4
The Valley grows
More visibility for local businesses. More people at community events. A stronger, more connected Valley.

What's on

Never miss what's happening

Browse community happenings as a list or a calendar, filter by what you're into — yard sales, classes, festivals, dances — and save the ones you don't want to forget, like the Street Fair down on Desmond Street.

The Valley remembers

A living archive of local history

Old railroad shops, vanished landmarks, postcards from another century — neighbors share the photos and stories that made Athens, Sayre, and Waverly what they are, right alongside today's news.

Why we built this
The Valley deserves more than a Facebook group and word of mouth. It deserves an infrastructure of connection — a place where small businesses get discovered, events get attended, and neighbors find each other.
The Valley has always been more than a place
Athens, Sayre, and Waverly share a history built on rail, on industry, on generations of families who stayed because this valley was worth staying for. That spirit hasn't left — it just needs a place to gather.
Small businesses deserve to be found
When a restaurant closes because nobody knew it existed, or a skilled tradesperson leaves because they couldn't find enough work locally — that's a failure of connection, not a failure of community. My Valley Connection puts local businesses where people can actually find them.
This is a community project, not a startup
There are no venture capitalists behind this. No growth targets. No plans to sell your data. Just Seth, a developer from the Valley who wanted to do something about it — and a handful of volunteer neighbors who believed it was worth doing.
